Empowering every girl to learn, lead and thrive — because no girl's future should be decided by her circumstances.
"Every girl deserves a future
without limits."
Across Northern Nigeria, girls face barriers to education, health and opportunity that most people never see. The Girl Child Initiative exists to remove those barriers — with practical support, real relationships and the firm belief that these girls can lead.
Accross many communities where we work, a girl misses school because she has no sanitary pad or become less confident with herself. She drops out because there is no one to guide her. She grows up without anyone ever telling her what she is capable of.
Through the Girl Child Initiative, Protota Foundation is breaking these barriers by equipping girls with knowledge, confidence and opportunities to become leaders, changemakers and role models within their communities.
Our work is hands-on, community-rooted and built around what girls in the local communities and partner homes actually need. Hover each area to learn more.
We educate girls on menstrual health, personal hygiene and self care so they can manage their periods with confidence and dignity and never miss a day of school for it.
We distribute sanitary pads directly to girls in underserved schools, ensuring menstruation is never a reason to miss class or fall behind.
We visit schools to run awareness campaigns with students, teachers and communities — building environments where girls feel safe, seen and supported.
Women mentors and facilitators walk alongside girls — having real conversations about confidence, character, leadership and who they are becoming.
Every donation, every hour volunteered, every partnership makes it possible for a girl to stay in school, feel seen and believe in what she can become.
